I was lucky to have reunited with some college friends recently. We spent half the night laughing about the ridiculous things we did, grateful there were no cell phones to capture the evidence and wondering how we are still alive.
We talked about navigating a teenager’s side eye and sass, bracing for when they leave the nest for college, while at the same time our parents are aging and need more from us.
Welcome to “Surviving the Messy Middle”. The stage of life where we feel 22 but if we sneeze too hard, we will throw out our backs and we keep losing our damn keys.
This is when we need our girlfriends most—to vent, swap advice, and laugh until wine comes out of our noses. But let’s be honest: it takes three weeks, six calendar invites, and a blood oath just to line up a coffee date.

Nancy is a native Philly girl that moved to the “Burbs” when she married her husband of 20 years. Together they are raising their 2 sassy teenagers and Surviving the Messy Middle.
